In the eighties, I arrived in Mumbai as an expatriate and began life. For someone who had been living under the shelter of family members in the ancestral home, expatriate life—especially establishing a livelihood in a metropolis like Mumbai was indeed arduous. The agonies faced in isolation among strangers.. rejections… denials aplenty..! The human rights violations encountered while overcoming all of that and moving forward. During my stay in Mumbai, I had to face numerous human rights violations. I had to witness many of them as well. But in such circumstances, we become mute and deaf… and society too becomes mere spectators. That is their helplessness.
