Poetry Anthology

Teleidoscope An Anthology of 60 Haiku

300

Teleidoscope comprises sixty poems in the form of haiku which originated in 17th century Japan and now are gaining momentum all over the world. It is an unrhymed poetic form consisting of seventeen syllables arranged in three lines of five, seven, and five syllables respectively. However, many haiku in Teleidoscope do not subscribe to the traditional 5-7-5 pattern as the Academy of American Poets recognizes this evolution . But they follow the other core principles of haiku like focusing on one brief moment of time , employing colourful imagery and providing a sudden moment of illumination . The themes dealt with in these haiku include COVID 19 pandemic and countless deaths as a result of it , religious prejudice , female foeticide , man’s eternal struggle for existence , human relationships , power in music , the plight of the old , freedom , creativity and love of nature .
